Teh B34ch - Yufine by fredrin Teh B34ch - Yufine by fredrin
Been doing a lot of dev sketches for "t3h b34ch" omake i'm doing for the Dark Horse Megatokyo 1-3 Omnibus. Megatokyo hasn't had a beach scene yet, so i felt it was time to have one... and of course, this being Megatokyo, it's a little... different. To be honest, i really shouldn't say whether with this sketch is just me trololololing or not, but let's say i'm not trolling for a sec and we have here a little monster Lorelei who looks an awful lot like Yuki... The pencil sketch for this really didn't look right:… - mostly because the paper wasn't tall enough to really do her tail right. ^^;;

I keep imagining how this would look as a painting...the colors. This is a beautiful drawing like all your others. Thank you for sharing.

I love this as a drawing!  The line of the body and the tail is very pretty, and her Yuki-like face is as beautiful as Yuki's is cute...

I can't keep from thinking the things underwater, plants maybe, look like hands....

She's really cute, Fred. I'll have to get the omnibus just for this.

Whoa, envy! How can she get that high out of the water?! (I'm a swimming teacher XD)
Awesome image, beautiful as ever =D Love the basic rail and the hairflow is breathtaking as ever

Swim bladder maybe? (half fish after all)

Also, zombies. Not even t3h ocean is safe!

Yeah, that's the major flaw with a drawing like this - it's developmental, so i was just getting a sense of what her character looked like.  Originally was going to be under water, but that would um, wreak some havoc with the hair ^^;;  i SHOULD have had the waterline much higher - she COULD elevate herself this high, but only momentarily, her bouyancy (as you noted) would have her sinking to a lower point in the water (in the omake, she's just gonna be shoulders out of the water - in fact, she will be confused for Yuki mostly)  Still, it was cute enough to post tho :)

It is! Don't get me wrong about it, I LOVE the image and I already discussed with my boyfriend how it would be possible to capture an image like this (camera with super shutter speed). If you would've made her sitting on an underwater rock, it would also have been possible.
As a snorkling/swimming instructor, I have this whole mermaid thing worked out XP (it's a Pet Peeve now XD) Plus I have a student who has a friend that owns a mermaid tail and she used it in class once. Great study material :)
...I should draw more mermaids XP
